Sierra Leone international attacker, Mustapha Bundu, has officially signed a three-year contract with German second division club Hannover 96 after opting not to renew his contract with Plymouth Argyle.

The Sierra Leone footbal icon, who scored 11 goals last season for Argyle, is now set to pour his football attacking talents to the 2. Bundesliga.

Bundu’s move came after a successful two-year stint at Plymouth, where he finished as the team’s second top scorer, just one goal behind Ryan Hardie, who recently transferred to Wrexham for a reported £700,000. Hannover 96, which finished ninth in the 2024/25 season, welcomes Bundu as they look to strengthen their squad.

Marcus Mann, managing director of Hannover 96, expressed his excitement about Bundu’s arrival, stating, “We are very happy that we were able to convince Mustapha of our commitment during our discussions, and that he has chosen Hannover 96 and our path despite various other options in England and Germany.

Mann highlighted Bundu’s physical attributes, noting his pace, assertiveness, and height of just under 1.90 meters, which will be advantageous in their playing system. He added, “Overall, Mustapha can be described as a very complete striker who will enrich our young team with his experience.”

Bundu himself shared his enthusiasm for the move, saying, “What’s happening here at Hannover 96 has really appealed to me. Something new is emerging here with the new coach and many new players in the team.”

He emphasized his ambition, stating, “I want to be there and play for this club, which has a rich tradition, is known in the football world beyond Germany, has a large community and many fans, and is, of course, always about ambitious goals. I’m ambitious too, and I’m looking forward to this challenge.”

As Bundu joins Hannover 96, he is set to face former Plymouth Argyle head coach Miron Muslic, who recently took charge of Schalke, a team that finished five positions below Hannover last season.
