The Sierra Leone Dancesport Association has revealed plans to organise their first national dancing competition among schools in the country.

This was revealed during a meeting between the executive members of the Association and the Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the NSA’s Signal Hill Road office.

The meeting aimed to introduce themselves and formally congratulate Abdulai on his appointment by President Julius Maada Bio nine months ago.

Public Relations Officer Daniel Sillah introduced the delegation, while Secretary General Saidu Koroma highlighted the association’s mission. Established in 2018, Sierra Leone Dancesport promotes dance as a professional career and aims to develop it as a sport.

Koroma also shared plans to launch a national school dance competition, starting in the Western Area before expanding to other regions.

Abdulai welcomed the association and expressed excitement about their work. He emphasised the NSA’s commitment to supporting emerging sports and encouraged the group to stay organized to access necessary resources.

The Deputy Chairman of the association concluded by highlighting their success in identifying and nurturing young dance talents, including university students, and providing them with platforms to showcase their skills nationwide.
