The Protocol and Events Officer at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Alusine Aiah Kabba, has been re-elected as Team Leader for all participants from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the FIFA Guardians Safeguarding in Football Diploma Programme.
Currently attending a ten-day intensive workshop in England, Kabba continued to demonstrate his commitment to child protection and welfare in African football.
The workshop, which gathers participants from 72 countries, is facilitated by some of the world’s leading safeguarding experts. It is focused on equipping attendees with the skills needed to effectively respond to safeguarding concerns within football, manage cases responsibly, and implement preventive measures to reduce future risks.
A key component of the workshop is case management, an essential aspect of safeguarding practices.
Kabba’s re-election as Team Leader spotlighted his leadership qualities and dedication to fostering a safe environment for all involved in the sport. He has served in that capacity throughout the two-year duration of the course, reflecting the trust and respect he has earned among his peers.
The workshop is part of the broader 18-month FIFA Guardians Diploma Programme, which is fully funded by FIFA and delivered in collaboration with The Open University in the United Kingdom. The programme aimed to strengthen safeguarding frameworks across all FIFA Member Associations, ensuring that football remains a positive space for all participants.
Kabba’s active involvement in the initiative reportedly harnessed the SLFA’s growing commitment to safeguarding in football, emphasizing the importance of creating an inclusive and secure environment for everyone in the game.
