The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has approved its 2026 budget and adopted the Association’s financial statements following the successful conclusion of its Ordinary Congress held in Bo City.
The congress, which marked the first ordinary meeting of the Association since the election of SLFA President Babadie Kamara, brought together 55 of the Association’s 57 delegates alongside football stakeholders and officials from across the country to deliberate on key issues affecting the development and administration of football in Sierra Leone.
The approval of the financial statements and the 2026 budget formed the major outcome of the congress, providing the Association with the financial and administrative framework for its activities in the coming year.
Addressing delegates during the meeting, President Babadie Kamara presented his administration’s activity report since assuming office, highlighting reforms and programmes implemented to strengthen the institution.
He informed members that the Association had undertaken a comprehensive internal restructuring process aimed at improving institutional efficiency and enhancing football governance.
Kamara further disclosed that the SLFA had implemented a coaching safety programme, expanded support for women’s football, increased annual grants to Regional Football Associations from US$15,000 to US$50,000, and intensified youth football development initiatives across the country.
The SLFA President also revealed that his administration inherited outstanding financial obligations amounting to NLe1.8 million and US$106,393. He, however, noted that significant progress had been made in settling those liabilities.
Delegates used the congress to assess the current state of the Association, discuss the future of football in Sierra Leone, and review the progress made by the new administration.
The conclusion of the congress and the approval of key financial documents are expected to provide the Association with a clearer operational direction as it pursues its football development agenda and institutional reforms.
