The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) in partnership with FIFA have concluded a ten-day training course on Sunday May 14 for over 60 Assessors, Instructors and Elite Referees in Bo City, Southern Sierra Leone.
The first phase of the training was tailored for Assessors and Instructors came to a conclusion on May 9th 2023 with the distribution of FIFA certificates of participation to 30 male and female veteran referees selected from across the country.
According to SLFA Media Department affirmed that the ceremony was witnessed by the Vice President-1 of the Sierra Leone Football Association Harold Nat-Johnson, the Chairman of the SLFA Referees Committee Alhaji M. A. Sesay and the SLFA Referees Manager Edmond Foray Marrah.
In his statement, the Lead facilitator Prof. Lim Kee Chong, a former FIFA World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations referee expressed great delight over the the performance of the participants.
“With this crop of referees, there is great prospect for the development of refereeing in Sierra Leone”. Prof. Lim said. He added by requesting the SLFA to pay more attention to referees department, noting that, “referees in every country must be seen as international ambassadors,”
The ceremony was officially climaxed with a brief statement of closure by Vice President- 1 following the distribution of certificates to all participants in the training session.
