On a press release dated 28th March 2022, the Sierra Leone Premier League Board (SLPLB) expresses deeply how disturbed the body is with regards to the ugly scenes that marred yesterday’s football match between Bo Rangers FC and FC Kallon at the Bo Stadium.
According to the SLPLB Chairman, the recent happenings these days in the Sierra leone Premier League appear to be a trademark of the previous games across the country. These unfortunate incidents of fighting during matches has gone to the extreme of undermining the collective efforts of the SLPLB to make the League attractive particularly to the private sector.
The Chairman continued that, the SLPLB needed something bad, which is not disclosed, especially when the body and the teams are struggling financially to organize and participate in the league.
The Chairman furthered that, The SLPLB has therefore urged the designated match officials to make instructive and speed up their Match Reports and transmit same to SLPLB Secretariat immediately.
The Chairman assured the public that, the SLPLB would neither be duped, nor fear in reaching a fair and just decision in the circumstance. The SLPLB promises to follow the provisions of the Rules and Regulations that govern the competition to the letter, so justice be but done.
In the concluding statement in the press release, the SLPLB profoundly apologies to the public, in particular the peaceful fans at the match in question for enduring such horrendous spectacle from people who should have nothing but a faint acquaintance with the beautiful game of football. The SLPLB wishes those injured in the melee a speedy recovery.
