Sierra Leone’s Tug-of-war athletes are preparing for international tournament set to commence in November at the Republic of Ireland.

The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Tug-of-War, Karafala Kello Thoronka, said that the team is fully devoted to stringent practice ahead of the international tournament in Ireland. He added that the head coach together with the athletes are mentally and physically focused during training sessions, ascertaining their decision to succeed.

Thoronka remarked that there is high positivity within the team and that they will accomplish success and bring home medals for Sierra Leone. He accentuated the team’s responsibility to represent the country to the fullest in the forthcoming contest.

Thoronka said renovation works at the National Stadium has affected them but that they have been coping with their new training ground at Aberdeen Beach.

He stressed that although they have been suffering from lack financial support over the years, they will eyeing victory in the tournament as they intend to win gold medals.

Team Sierra Leone could participate in the tournament last due to visa issues for some of their members but with all set for this year, the team is well-prepared to participate this year.
