Sierra Leone international striker Augustine Williams has launched a scathing attack on the conditions faced by players in the national team, claiming poor treatment and inadequate preparation.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Williams expressed his frustration with the team’s arrangements, comparing them to his experiences playing professionally in the United States. He criticized the team’s travel arrangements, stating that players often endure long-haul economy flights that leave them exhausted upon arrival.

“They don’t put me on an economy flight for 15 hours where I arrive 2:00 AM in the morning in Africa and that same morning I have training and the next day I have to play a professional game with no rest whatever,” Williams wrote.

The striker also raised concerns about the quality of equipment and support provided to players. He claimed that the national team often lacks basic necessities, such as proper massage equipment, which is essential for professional athletes.

Williams’ comments have sparked a debate about the state of football in Sierra Leone. While some fans have expressed support for the player, others have criticized his public criticism of the national team.

In his remarks, he cautioned others against provoking him into speaking out, as he has long defended the country’s reputation while others have attempted to tarnish his on the internet.

“Do not provoke me to speak. I have long protected the name of that country, while they have sought to tarnish mine on the internet,” he warned.

He said that he spoke highly of Sierra Leone to his club team there in the States. He had to lie for the country so she would look good in the eyes of the Western World. but he said he would not let anybody tarnish his name as he is a brand now that needs protecting at some point and would be speaking the truth now, so they know exactly how unprofessional and unorganized the National Team of Sierra Leone is.

“I speak highly of it to my club team here in the States, I have to lie for them just so my country will look good in the eyes of the Western world. Now I won’t let nobody tarnish my name. I’m also a brand and I have to protect my name at some point: I will speak the truth now, let them know exactly how unprofessional and unorganized that national team is,” he ended.
