Bayer Leverkusen has secured a significant addition to its A-Junior team with the signing of 17-year-old left-back Osman Turay from FC Schalke 04.
The talented player, who holds Dutch citizenship and has roots in Sierra Leone, joins the club on a free transfer, a strategic move aimed at enhancing Leverkusen’s youth development efforts.
Osman Turay’s arrival at Bayer Leverkusen is seen as a major step in the club’s commitment to fostering young talent.

Sporting director Simon Rolfes expressed his enthusiasm about the signing, stating, “Osman Turay’s ambitions match perfectly with our objectives. We are committed to elevating our standing in youth football and reinstating Bayer 04 as a premier destination in German football.”
Football director Kim Falkenberg also praised Turay’s abilities, noting, “Osman has emerged as one of the standout players in his age group. We’re excited that he has chosen to continue his promising path with Bayer 04 Leverkusen.”

Turay’s transition to Leverkusen is particularly noteworthy given his previous experiences with the German U-17 national team, where he served as vice-captain. He has played alongside current Leverkusen players Jeremiah Mensah, Nebe Domnic, and Ben Hawighorst.
The quartet last competed together in a match against Portugal, where Germany suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat, resulting in an early exit from the European Championship in Albania.

Earlier this year, Turay faced Bayer Leverkusen while playing for Schalke in the quarter-finals of the German A-Junior Championship. In that thrilling encounter, Leverkusen triumphed 3-2 in a penalty shootout, allowing them to advance to the finals, where they ultimately lost 4-5 to 1. FC Köln.
With this free transfer, Osman Turay is poised to make a significant impact at Bayer Leverkusen, as the club aims to strengthen its youth squad and develop future stars in German football.
