Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura, of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.8, has sentenced 31-year-old Mason, Ibrahim Kamara, to eight months in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing building materials. Kamara was charged with one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to court records, the incident occurred on Saturday, 17th May 2025, at Plum Heath, Hill Station, in the Mountain Rural District of Freetown. Kamara was found to have stolen fifteen full-length 5/8 iron rods and nineteen zinc roofing sheets, all valued at Le19,700, property of one Gabba Vandi.
Upon arraignment, Kamara admitted to the offense. Inspector Aminata Korio, prosecuting, confirmed that the facts were as charged and presented the accused’s voluntary caution statement and charge sheet as evidence. She noted that Kamara had no prior criminal record and pleaded with the court to consider leniency.
Taking into account the guilty plea and the absence of any previous convictions, Magistrate Samura opted for a custodial sentence and ordered Kamara to serve eight months at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter has been closed, with the sentence effective immediately.
