The Director General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Engineer Alfred Jalil Momodu, hosted Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. William Fayia Sellu for a strategic meeting aimed at enhancing public safety and inter-agency collaboration.
The meeting took place at the SLRA offices on Blackhall Road, Kissy, and highlighted plans to support the establishment of a new police division in Masingbi.
IGP Sellu affirmed the importance of creating a police division that would serve the extensive areas between Magburaka and Kono. He stated, “This follow-up visit was motivated by the need to improve policing in these places.” The IGP’s remarks reflect a commitment to addressing the unique security challenges faced in these regions.

During the meeting, IGP Sellu informed Engineer Momodu about his recent visit to Masingbi, where the police plan to utilize structures built by Salcost and handed over to the SLRA.
He emphasized the necessity of engaging with local authorities and paramount chiefs in Masingbi to explore further accommodation options for police personnel who will be deployed in the area.
In addition to discussing the new police division, IGP Sellu reiterated the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to collaborating with the SLRA in clearing the right of way across Freetown.

The initiative has notably received positive feedback, as it aims to enhance road safety within the city. He assured Engineer Momodu that the police would provide the necessary manpower to support these operations.
Engineer Momodu welcomed the IGP’s initiative and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the SLRA and the police.
He proposed a joint visit to Masingbi to assess existing facilities and identify additional requirements for the successful establishment of the new police division. He further announced ongoing plans to expand right-of-way clearing operations to other parts of Freetown, specifically targeting Lumley and Tokeh Road.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing on the crucial role of inter-agency cooperation in improving service delivery. They committed to conducting a joint assessment of facilities in Masingbi to facilitate the effective establishment of the new police division and enhance operational efficiency across the targeted areas.
