Sierra Leone’s Senior Women’s Cricket Team is making waves in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Division 2 Africa Qualifier, securing three consecutive victories, including a recent win against host Botswana by 5 wickets.

The team’s campaign kicked off with a commanding 77-run victory over Mozambique, setting a strong precedent for their performance in Gaborone, Botswana. In their match against Eswatini, after Eswatini elected to bowl, Sierra Leone’s opening batters, Emma Kamara and Captain Aminata Kamara, established a solid foundation. Emma Kamara was particularly outstanding, scoring 71 runs off 60 balls, supported by significant contributions from Marie Turay and Celina Bull. The team finished with an impressive total of 190 runs for six wickets in 20 overs.

Eswatini struggled in response, managing only 41 runs for eight wickets, resulting in a decisive 149-run victory for Sierra Leone. Kamara’s exceptional performance earned her the Player of the Match accolade.

Following their victory over Eswatini, the Ladies Patriots continued their winning streak by defeating Botswana, further solidifying their position in the tournament. The team is now set to face more challenges as they aim to maintain their remarkable form.

“A fantastic victory and a proud moment for the team,” player Ann Marie Kamara expressed in a social media post, reflecting the team’s determination and spirit as they progress in the competition.
