The Minister of Internal Affairs, Retired AIG Morie Lengor Esq., on Thursday, July 31, 2025, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) in Hastings, Freetown.

TOCU is a multinational law enforcement agency tasked with combating transnational organized crimes, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, and maritime piracy.

During the visit, Minister Lengor was taken on a tour of the facility where he inspected various exhibits, including drugs awaiting destruction, Kush production equipment, and several vehicles seized from suspected drug and human traffickers.

The Minister commended the Multi Agency Unit for their efforts in fighting organized crimes and encouraged them to do everything humanly possible to curb the menace to protect their vulnerable youth who are the souls and future of their Country.

He emphasised that they should accomplish all tasks required to make organized crime a costly and risky business for those participating in it, by way of seizing properties belonging to them that are the proceeds of their crimes. He revealed that he would further push for life imprisonment sentences for traffickers and dealers to serve as a powerful deterrent.

The Minister also called on Sierra Leoneans not to always cry down the security services, but to praise and thank them when they do a good job, as they are working under difficult and dangerous circumstances.

“When you are asleep, the security services are at work to protect you and keep you safe, of course, they can be constructively criticized when it is necessary”. Minister Lengor Esq. said.

Furthermore, Minister Lengor also visited and inspected a house on Old Road, Waterloo, which was used as a clandestine Factory for Kush making. The Minister requested the TOCU to commence the process for a speedy seizure of the house, as only such drastic measures could serve as a strong deterrent against drug trafficking, drug dealing, and drug Manufacturing in Sierra Leone.

The Minister further appreciated Mr. Mohamed K Allieu, Head of TOCU, and the Management and Leadership of the TOCU, and encouraged them to continue the good work.
