The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) has extended its ongoing operation targeting street traders and unauthorized structures, now reaching Deep Eye Water and Waterloo after earlier activities in central Freetown and Jui.

The operation, known as Operation Clear the Streets, is focused on removing traders and structures from footpaths and roadsides. It began in busy city areas like Dwazark Junction and has been moving outward along key transport routes. Officials say the goal is to reduce roadside accidents and make space for safe movement.

In Deep Eye Water, where the operation was active this week, serious tension broke out as traders were pushed out from their usual spots along the main highway. Similar removals were carried out in Jui just days before. Waterloo is now the latest area where the same actions are being enforced.

The SLRA and other involved teams have been clearing tables, stalls, and temporary structures that block public paths or create traffic hazards. Some of these areas had seen long-term trading and informal occupation of road space.

While the operation continues, more areas across the Western Area may soon be affected, especially along other major roads leading out of the city.
