The family of the late Jaffar Zeghir has reportedly demanded justice from LeonOil, a fuel company accused of failing to pay what it owes the deceased businessman.

According to a report by Pastor Mohamed Sesay, shared on Queen Biba Blog’s Official Facebook page, the situation has escalated into a major concern for accountability.

Five years ago, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sesay reported that Zeghir, a trusted customer of LeonOil, purchased fuel worth over 2 billion old leones.

Due to government-imposed lockdowns, he was unable to collect his fuel, which remained with LeonOil for safekeeping.

According to Sesay, when the restrictions were lifted, Zeghir attempted to retrieve his fuel, only to be informed that he would need to cover the increased price, a demand that he found unjust.

In an effort to resolve the issue, Sesay confirmed that Zeghir took his case to the High Court, where he emerged victorious. However, LeonOil reportedly appealed the court’s decision, prolonging the legal battle.

Tragically, Zeghir passed away last week, reportedly from distress over the ongoing situation, without receiving the justice he sought.

“LeonOil’s actions have been cruel,” stated Sesay, emphasizing that the case should never have reached the courts if the company had acted with conscience.

The family has called for LeonOil to fulfill its obligations and provide the compensation owed to Zeghi, asserting that justice should not be delayed by protracted legal proceedings.
