The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), Mr. James Bagie Bio, has urged for heightened professionalism among Road Safety Corps.
The address took place during a muster parade in the Western Area and followed a high-level meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs, AIG (Rtd.) Morie Lengor Esq, aimed at enhancing collaboration between the Road Safety Corps and other enforcement bodies across Sierra Leone.
Bio expressed serious concern regarding the increasing cases of indiscipline within the Corps. He reiterated the Authority’s zero-tolerance policy towards such behavior, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to organizational rules and ethical standards. “We must maintain our integrity and professionalism at all times,” he stated.

A particular point of concern for Bio was the growing issue of lateness, especially among personnel assigned to B Shifts. He highlighted the importance of timeliness as essential for maintaining productivity and public trust.
He warned that lateness to work undermines the Authority’s mission and affects their service delivery, stressing that unauthorized abandonment of duty posts could have detrimental effects on operational efficiency.
In response to those challenges, Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Josie A. Scott-Manga, announced the establishment of an Integrity Committee. The committee will work closely with the Corps Intelligence Office (CIO) to uphold best practices and ensure compliance with the SLRSA Code of Conduct.

The Director of Safety and Enforcement, Mr. Augustine Kaitongi, further reminded personnel of their professional responsibilities, encouraging them to demonstrate dedication to their duties and maintain high service standards.
Route Commander Bernardette K. Mattia, head of the CIO, condemned the practice of withholding drivers’ licenses without following proper legal and procedural channels. She cautioned against such misconduct and urged personnel to uphold procedural integrity.
Concluding his address, Bio called for a renewed commitment to professionalism, discipline, and teamwork, reiterating the collective responsibility of the Road Safety Corps in fulfilling the Authority’s mission of ensuring safer roads in Sierra Leone.
