Member of the All-People’s Congress (APC) Communications Team, Minkailu Koroma, has raised concerns over recent government appointments, alleging that diplomatic envoy positions are being used to benefit a prominent family.

Koroma criticized the appointment of four members of the Antar family as presidential envoys, questioning whether the decision aligns with the national interest. He argued that such appointments risk fostering perceptions of nepotism and could provide individuals with access to diplomatic privileges for personal business gains.

According to Koroma, the granting of diplomatic passports through these appointments may allow the Antars to expand their private enterprises internationally. He stressed that public office should not be used to advance personal or family interests.

Political analysts note that while the Constitution grants the President authority to appoint envoys, such decisions often draw scrutiny from opposition figures who demand greater accountability in foreign service selections.

The development has sparked renewed discussions about balancing national representation with the need to ensure fairness and meritocracy in government appointments.
