The Sierra Leone Bar Association has assured the public that it will closely monitor the tribunal process to ensure that all procedures are properly followed in the investigation of Justice Allan Halloway (SC).
The association emphasizes the importance of due process as it oversees the ongoing proceedings.
In a recent statement, the SLBA expressed concern over the suspension of Justice Halloway, which was issued through a letter from the Office of the Secretary to the President dated 15 September 2025.
The suspension followed advice from the Judicial and Legal Service Commission (JLSC) during a meeting held on 5 September 2025.
The SLBA confirmed that a three-member disciplinary tribunal has been established to investigate the allegations against Justice Halloway, in accordance with section 137(6) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone.
The association also stated that, given the sensitivity of the matter, it is inappropriate to comment on the allegations at this stage to avoid prejudicing the tribunal’s work. However, the SLBA urged the tribunal to conduct its proceedings expeditiously and to ensure that all procedural safeguards are upheld.
“The Sierra Leone Bar Association remains fully committed to seeing that due process is observed,” the statement affirmed, underscoring its resolve to monitor the case closely and ensure fairness throughout the investigation.
