A teacher from Nibatt Primary School, located at the 7 Battalion Military Barracks, appeared before Magistrate Solomon Christian Kekurah at the York Village Court, facing allegations of stealing school property from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).

Edmond Emmanuel Janneh is charged with conspiracy, office breaking, and larceny. Two other individuals, Abdulai and Ibrahim Jalloh, are charged with receiving stolen items.

The alleged theft occurred on 30 August 2025, when Janneh reportedly broke into the school and took items including school bells, exercise books, chairs, uniforms, and classroom supplies.

Head Teacher Ekundayo Anderson testified that she discovered the break-in on the morning of 30 August, noticing an open gate and damaged office structures. A tip from a local teenager led to the recovery of several stolen items, including school textbooks and bells, and to the apprehension of Janneh and the two other suspects at Adonkia Police Station.

Janneh, representing himself, denied taking most of the items, claiming he only took and returned eight school bells. The defence argued that the second and third accused were not involved in the theft.

Magistrate Kekurah set the case for trial within 28 days in accordance with the New Criminal Procedure Act 2024, cautioning both parties to avoid delays. The next hearing is scheduled for Monday, 22 September 2025.
