UNDP Trains 100 Women Entrepreneurs Through EWASME Project in Sierra LeoneThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through its Empowering Women-Led and Women-Owned Small and Micro Enterprises (EWASME) project, has successfully trained 100 women-led and women-owned Very Small Enterprises (VSEs) in Sierra Leone.
The beneficiaries completed a comprehensive capacity-building programme covering business development, governance, financial management, and mentorship. The training aims to strengthen the foundations of their businesses and support sustainable growth.
Each enterprise will receive a matching grant to invest in productive assets, improve service delivery, and expand operations. Over the next year, participants will also benefit from continuous mentorship to help them apply their skills and tackle real-world challenges.
According to UNDP, the EWASME project is designed to empower women entrepreneurs to scale their businesses, contribute to local economic development, create jobs, and promote gender-inclusive growth.
The organisation added that these women are emerging as role models in their communities, inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.
