A 20-year-old student, Moris Sillah, was remanded to Pademba Road Correctional Centre after appearing before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on serious drug-related charges.

Sillah faces two counts under the National Drug Control Act 2008; dealing in a prohibited drug without lawful authority and possession of a prohibited substance. Prosecutors alleged he was apprehended on 14 August 2025 at No. 9 Second Street, Mountain Cut, Western Area, Freetown, while selling and in possession of Kush, a banned substance. The first count alleges dealing in the drug and the second alleges possession of a wobbly quantity of Kush. Sillah did not enter a plea when the charges were read.

Sergeant Peter Kaitibie of Waterloo Police Station, the prosecution’s third witness, testified that he recognized the accused and led the operation after receiving intelligence linking Sillah to Kush-related activities. He said officers arrested Sillah at his residence and seized the suspected drug, which was taken into police custody for further analysis. Under cross-examination by defense counsel A.A. Bangura, Sergeant Kaitibie maintained his account and described the evidence as credible and consistent.

Magistrate Fornah denied bail, citing the seriousness of the charges and the need to protect the integrity of the investigation. The case was adjourned to 14 October 2025 for further proceedings.
