Reliable sources close to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) have disclosed that the delay in releasing the 2025 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results is due to financial difficulties faced by the Ministry.
According to insider reports, the Ministry is yet to settle outstanding payments owed to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), a situation that has reportedly stalled the release of the much-anticipated results.
The delay has sparked growing concern among parents, teachers, and candidates who sat the examinations earlier this year. Many have expressed frustration over the prolonged wait, describing it as a setback that could affect students’ academic progression.
With universities across the country preparing to resume classes and application deadlines fast approaching, the uncertainty surrounding the release of the results has placed thousands of students in a difficult position.
“The fate of many candidates now hangs in the balance,” a concerned parent lamented. “Our children are anxious because university admissions are already underway, yet there are no results in sight.”
As of press time, officials at the Ministry have not issued an official statement regarding when the outstanding payments will be made or when WAEC will be able to release the results. However, sources indicate that efforts are being made to resolve the impasse before the end of this month.
