In a bold show of unity against the growing Kush epidemic, victims of the deadly substance have joined forces with the Central Youths Organization (C.Y.O) in Kono District to raise awareness and expose those involved in its sale and distribution.
Residents of Koidu City, led by the Central Youths Organization, took to the streets in a peaceful demonstration aimed at highlighting the devastating impact of Kush on young people and families. The march, which drew victims, community activists, and concerned citizens, was both a protest and a powerful call for collective responsibility.
Participants carried placards and chanted messages of hope and resistance, urging immediate action to save the district’s youth from the grip of addiction.
According to organizers, the campaign sought to break the silence surrounding Kush abuse by empowering victims to speak out and identify individuals profiting from the illegal trade.
C.Y.O leaders commended the courage of victims who publicly shared their experiences, noting that silence and stigma have long enabled the drug’s spread. They called on government authorities, security agencies, and community elders to take coordinated action to dismantle drug supply networks and intensify rehabilitation efforts.
“This is not just a protest; it’s a cry for help and change,” said one C.Y.O leader. “Our youths are dying, and our communities cannot remain silent any longer.”
The event marks a turning point in Koidu’s fight against Kush a movement driven by the people themselves, determined to reclaim their communities from addiction and restore hope for the future.
