Kossoh Town Community and Kingtom Community played to a 0-0 draw at Parade Grounds on Thursday in a Central One Football Association Elephant Bet Inter-Community Champions League match that security personnel and match officials praised for its disciplined atmosphere.

The deadlock persisted through 90 minutes and five minutes of stoppage time, with both defences holding firm in a contest that produced no clear-cut chances. The match formed part of a 32-team tournament that has become one of Freetown’s premier grassroots football competitions.

COFA, which has organised the Inter-Community League for over 30 years, has prioritised crowd control and peaceful fan behaviour following past incidents of violence at Parade Ground. This season’s competition has been branded the “Say No to Drugs and Say No to Violence” Inter-Community League, a partnership with Barrie Help and the Ivorian Sillas Foundation.

The foundation donated 12 official match balls, 90 medals and 70 captain’s armbands ahead of the tournament as part of an anti-drug and anti-violence campaign. COFA Chairman Philpson Cline-Cole has described the foundation as one of the association’s most dependable partners.

Kossoh Town and Kingtom supporters maintained a peaceful presence throughout the match, according to tournament officials. The result leaves both communities seeking their first win as the group stage continues. The champions of this year’s edition will receive NLe 110,000, with runners-up taking NLe 60,000.
