The CEO of Kamex Group of Companies SL Ltd, Osman Kamex Kamara, has issued a public appeal to the Chief Justice, His Lordship Komba Kamanda, urging the reinstatement of Justice Momoh Jah Stevens.

According to Mr. Kamara, the relationship between Justice Stevens and Edwina appears to have been consensual and, therefore, does not constitute wrongdoing. He noted that unless judges are explicitly prohibited from engaging in consensual relationships, Justice Stevens should not be penalized for matters that fall within his personal rights.

Mr. Kamara further stated that the repeated public allegations and videos targeting Justice Stevens seem to reflect a situation where one party is attempting to end a relationship, while the other resorts to blackmail or manipulation possibly for financial gain amid the country’s challenging economic conditions, where even teachers earn a modest salary of approximately Le 1,800 ($76). He also hinted that certain rogue individuals may be fueling the controversy for their own interests.

He added that judges make critical decisions every day, including sentencing dangerous criminals or setting individuals free naturally exposing them to both admiration and hatred. For this reason, he believes that judges require more protection, not public humiliation based solely on viral social media accusations.

Mr. Kamara concluded by questioning whether a social media call-out video is all it takes now to destroy the career and reputation of a judge, stating that due process and fairness must prevail.
