The Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the National Tourist Board (NTB), has officially handed over newly constructed public toilet facilities along the Lumley-Aberdeen Beach area for public use.

The project is part of a broader effort to enhance sanitation, improve visitor experience, and support tourism development along one of Freetown’s most visited recreational corridors.

According to information shared by the institutions, the new facilities are designed to address long-standing gaps in public sanitation at the beach, benefiting both residents and tourists. The initiative is also intended to contribute to cleaner surroundings and better hygiene standards at a location that attracts high foot traffic particularly during holidays and weekends.

Officials from the Ministry of Tourism and the NTB expressed appreciation to the Rotary Club of Freetown–Sunset for leading the effort and committing resources to the project. They noted that partnerships between civil society and government agencies play an important role in delivering essential community infrastructure.

Both the Ministry and NTB have pledged to ensure the facility is properly maintained and managed, with the aim of guaranteeing sustained public access and long-term usability.

The project is part of ongoing national initiatives focused on boosting tourism, strengthening community development, and improving public health outcomes. It also aligns with Sierra Leone’s broader goal of enhancing service delivery and providing modern amenities for both citizens and international visitors.
