Magistrate Court No. 1 in Kenema has remanded two men in separate criminal cases involving allegations of murder and attempted murder.

The remand orders were issued on January 8, 2025, by His Worship, Magistrate Hadiru Daboh.

In the first case, Abu Kamando, a farmer from Madina Village in Wandor Chiefdom, was charged with murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences against the Persons Act of 1861, as amended by Section 1 of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act No. 6 of 2022.

Prosecutors alleged that on Saturday, June 28, 2025, Kamando unlawfully killed Bundu Kamando at the Kamando Village Bush in Wandor Chiefdom. No plea was taken, and the matter was adjourned to January 20, 2026, for further hearing.

In a separate matter, Mohamed Sheriff, a harbormaster from Kenema in Nongowa Chiefdom, was charged with attempted murder, wounding with intent, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences against the Persons Act of 1861.

The prosecution alleged that on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Sheriff attacked Michel Paul Nicole at No. 17 Sheikh Abubakarr Street, Lumbebu Axis, Kenema City.

It is alleged that the accused cut off the victim’s left thumb with a machete and sprayed a liquid suspected to be acid into the victim’s eyes. No plea was entered, and the case was adjourned to January 16, 2025, for preliminary proceedings.

Both cases are being prosecuted by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sulaiman Kamara, Esq., of the Legal and Justice Support Department, Kenema Police Division.
