The Government of Sierra Leone has announced that Cabinet conclusions will now be read publicly at the Weekly Government Press Conference, a move aimed at increasing transparency and public access to information on executive decision-making.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, during a regular government media briefing in Freetown. He said the decision was taken by President Dr Julius Maada Bio and members of Cabinet as part of ongoing efforts to promote openness, accountability, and public trust in governance.

According to Minister Bah, the new approach will allow citizens to gain clearer insight into decisions taken at Cabinet level and help address concerns about limited public knowledge of government deliberations. He stated that the measure is intended to make governance more accessible and improve communication between the government and the public.

The Minister noted that publicly sharing Cabinet conclusions will also enable civil society organisations, the media, and the general public to follow up on government policies and assess their implementation over time.

In a related update, Minister Bah informed journalists that President Bio is currently in Davos, Switzerland, attending the World Economic Forum (WEF). He described the forum as a global platform that brings together heads of state, policymakers, business leaders, and other stakeholders to discuss international economic and development issues.

According to the Minister, President Bio’s participation at the WEF provides an opportunity for Sierra Leone to present its reform agenda, engage potential investors, and strengthen its international engagement.

Minister Bah concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to regular and transparent communication, stating that the Ministry of Information and Civic Education will continue to provide timely updates on government activities and decisions.
