Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has chaired the inaugural meeting of the Millennium Challenge Account-Sierra Leone (MCA-SL) Board of Directors, marking a major step forward in the implementation of the $480 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Energy Compact.
The meeting provided strategic oversight for the rollout of the Energy Compact, which is expected to deliver transformative improvements to Sierra Leone’s energy sector.
The Vice President described the session as a significant milestone, coming shortly after the adoption of the national energy sector roadmap, and expressed optimism about the future of United States-Sierra Leone relations and the Compact’s long-term impact on economic growth and energy access.
Ahead of the landmark meeting, Vice President Jalloh also held discussions with the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Reem Alabali-Radovan. Talks focused on expanding development cooperation between Sierra Leone and Germany, particularly in the areas of food security, health care, youth empowerment, and regional security.

The MCA Board is mandated to ensure that U.S. investments under the MCC Compact are utilized effectively, transparently, and responsibly, advancing American interests while supporting Sierra Leone’s development priorities and sustainable progress.
