The Office of Former President Ernest Bai Koroma has issued a formal cease-and-desist notice warning against what it describes as the unauthorized impersonation and misrepresentation of the former Head of State on Facebook.

In a statement dated January 30, 2026, and issued on behalf of H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone from 2007 to 2018, the Office raised concern over a Facebook page identified as “President Koroma Fans Page 2007-2018.”

According to the notice, the page has allegedly been operating in a manner that falsely presents itself as authorized to speak, write, or issue statements on behalf of the former president.

The Office stated that it had become aware that the page reproduced official content originating from the Office of H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma and published written statements presented as though they were authored by, or issued in the name of, the former president. The Office described this conduct as impersonation and misrepresentation.

While acknowledging and appreciating the goodwill of supporters and the existence of genuine fan engagement, the Office emphasized that no individual, group, or entity is authorized to speak, write statements, issue opinions, or communicate on behalf of H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma, except through his officially designated platforms and representatives.

It further clarified that the official Facebook page of the Office of Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone (2007–2018), is the sole authorized Facebook presence for statements and communications issued by or on behalf of the former president.

The notice also stated that any statements attributed to H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma that do not originate from his Office are unauthorized, inaccurate, and misleading, regardless of intent. Of particular concern, the Office noted that certain posts published on the page were not only false but also inconsistent with the former president’s long-standing role as a former Head of State committed to peace, constitutional order, and national stability.

Accordingly, the Office demanded that the administrators of the page immediately cease and desist from presenting the page as representing or issuing statements for H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma. The notice also required the removal of all posts, statements, captions, and materials written in the voice of, signed as, or directly attributed to the former president.

If the page is to remain active, the Office insisted that it must be clearly and prominently identified as an unofficial fan page, with an explicit disclaimer stating that it does not represent or speak for H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma or his Office.

The administrators were instructed to confirm compliance with these demands within seventy-two hours of receipt of the notice. The Office warned that failure to comply would leave it with no alternative but to initiate formal reporting and enforcement actions with Meta/Facebook, and to consider further remedies available under applicable laws governing impersonation, misrepresentation, and the unauthorized use of the name, image, and public standing of a former Head of State.

In the statement, the Office also called on genuine supporters of the former president to unfollow what it described as a “devious and reckless page.” The notice concluded by stating that it was issued without prejudice, with all rights and remedies expressly reserved.
