The Political Parties Regulatory Commission (PPRC) has warned that the All People’s Congress (APC) could be suspended from participating in electoral activities if it fails to settle an outstanding fine by Wednesday, 11 February 2026.
Chairman Emmanuel Koivaya Amara said the decision comes after the APC failed to pay a total of NLe350,000 for violating provisions of the Political Parties Act, 2022, despite multiple notices. The fine was imposed following a recent PPRC meeting in Freetown.
“If they fail to pay before the close of business tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., the commission will suspend the party,” Amara stated.
He added that the commission has not received any request from the APC for an extension or a court order challenging the PPRC’s decision. If suspended, the party would be barred from all official activities, including meetings and gatherings.
Amara also referenced Section 39 of the PPRC Act, which holds political parties accountable for statements made by any of their members, supporters, operatives, or candidates, regardless of where the statement is made.
He summarized: “No member, supporter, operative, or candidate of a political party shall make statements that violate the law, and the party is responsible for ensuring compliance.”
