Bo Rangers produced a composed and convincing performance to defeat Freetown City FC 3-1 in their Matchweek 22 clash at the Approved School Field on Saturday.

The Elephants made a bright start, asserting early control against a struggling City side that, despite showing flashes of threat, found it difficult to match the visitors’ intensity and cohesion.

Bo Rangers took the lead in the 17th minute through Charles Mensah. However, Freetown City FC responded well, drawing level in the 38th minute when Mohamed H. Saffa finished off a swift move to make it 1-1.

Both teams created chances as the first half progressed, but neither could find the breakthrough again, heading into the break with everything still to play for.

Just minutes into the second half, Paul Kwei Jnr restored Bo Rangers’ lead with a superb free-kick from 22 yards, curling it beautifully from the edge of the box in the 48th minute. Freetown City FC pushed forward in search of another equalizer and looked dangerous on the counter at times, but Bo Rangers’ defense stood firm.

Abu Komeh eventually put the game beyond doubt in the 70th minute, sealing a 3-1 victory for the Elephants.

The result sends Bo Rangers to the top of the Leone Rock Premier League table with 43 points from 22 matches. Elsewhere, Star Sport Academy, who had earlier occupied top spot, fell to a 2-0 defeat against Kamboi Eagles in Kenema. Freetown City FC, meanwhile, remain 14th with 20 points from 22 games.

Freetown City FC will look to bounce back when they face SLIFA FC on Wednesday at the SLFA Academy, while Bo Rangers are set for a crucial top-of-the-table showdown against FC Kallon at the Approved School Field on Sunday.
