R&B singer Famous has publicly accused Entertainment Ambassador Kao Denero of hypocrisy, alleging that the government-appointed envoy’s personal conduct contradicts the advice he recently gave to young artists following the arrest of rapper Boss LAJ.
In a video released on April 6, 2026, Famous responded to Kao Denero’s remarks at the Old Bo Boys Association (OBBA) annual gala on April 4, where the Ambassador warned artists to be “mindful of words and actions” and reminded them that “dis na Sierra Leone, nor be America” — remarks widely interpreted as a veiled criticism of LAJ, who was recently remanded for allegedly insulting the Mayor of Kenema .
But Famous argued that Kao Denero is in no position to lecture others.
“Bro, you do the worst,” Famous said in the video. “You dey waka with armed full substance like pepper spray, dey spray people. You walk around with thugs, you dey attack people them.”
Famous claimed that the Ambassador routinely moves with armed associates and has used pepper spray against others — conduct he said was at the center of the previously lawsuit Famous filed against Kao Denero months ago.
“Wetin make you feel say I carry you to court? Why do you have to beg in court? Why did you beg me in court? Because you know what you did was wrong,” Famous said.
He further alleged that Kao Denero publicly boasted about the case in his music, rapping “5,000 done case,” but insisted that the matter was not simply settled for money.
“Na beg you beg. You begged for the case to be dropped,” Famous stated.
Famous also revealed that it was LAJ — the very artist Kao Denero recently criticized — who helped mediate peace between the two. “LAJ is one of the people who said, ‘Bro, drop the case,’” Famous said.
Court records confirm that tensions between the two artists date back to February 22, 2025, during a concert at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown . Famous alleged that he was attacked and pepper-sprayed by individuals associated with Kao Denero, leaving him temporarily immobilized.
Two of Kao Denero’s associates, Amidu Sesay and Mohamed H. Kargbo (also known as Med Denero), were subsequently charged with conspiracy, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, disorderly behavior, and intimidation. They were remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
On August 28, 2025, Kao Denero issued a public apology in court. As part of a settlement, he paid $5,000 to Famous — a payment reportedly facilitated by prominent politician Sidie Mohamed Tunis. The court subsequently adjourned the matter.
By October 2025, the two artists had publicly reconciled, with Kao Denero announcing that the feud had been “resolved peacefully”. He thanked several prominent figures, including former ECOWAS Speaker Sidie Mohamed Tunis, for helping broker the truce .
Famous did not dispute that LAJ’s actions — referring to the Mayor of Kenema as a “bastard” — were wrong. He expressed sympathy for the Mayor and acknowledged that LAJ made a mistake.
However, he argued that Kao Denero’s response, delivered from a national platform in front of President Julius Maada Bio, was opportunistic and divisive.
“We all know LAJ did bad, but na we brother. We know he has issues, but still, he is our brother. We will say sorry to the Mayor of Kenema. But there is no need to say those words to the President as an Ambassador who should make peace reign and calm things down,” Famous said.
He added: “You saying people should be mindful of their words; you should be mindful of your actions. You get the worst action I have ever seen. Let’s leave this bad heart, it is too much in this industry.”
