The Communications Directorate at Sierra Leone’s State House, Myk Berewa, has said that President Julius Maada Bio has extended an invitation to leaders of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) to engage in dialogue aimed at promoting peace, but the party has yet to respond positively.
Director Myk Berewa disclosed that the invitation was issued last week as part of efforts by the presidency to address concerns raised by the opposition and to encourage constructive engagement.
“In the interest of promoting peace, the President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Julius Maada Bio has invited the APC party leaders since last week to hear their concerns. Yet, they appear to be dragging their feet, opting for a boycott instead of participating in a productive conversation,” Berewa stated.
According to the statement, the government views the proposed meeting as an opportunity to foster dialogue and reduce political tensions in the country. The presidency maintains that open discussion remains a key approach to resolving differences between political actors.
However, according to Berewa, the APC leadership has not formally accepted the invitation, and their absence from the proposed talks has been interpreted by State House as a reluctance to engage. The party has not publicly responded to the latest remarks at the time of publication.
Political observers note that dialogue between the ruling government and the opposition is often seen as critical to maintaining stability, particularly during periods of heightened political disagreement.
The situation continues to develop as attention turns to whether the APC leadership will reconsider its position and participate in the proposed discussions.

I think the leadership of the APC has more important issues to address than to sit with a president for a fruitless conversation.
Weldon APC, now I know you are very focus, determine and consistent.
