Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara has taken a prominent role in shaping the future of football development funding after participating in the FIFA Forward 4.0 Consultative Meeting held in Abidjan on April 11, 2026.

The high-level meeting brought together football leaders from WAFU Zones A and B to deliberate on the next phase of FIFA’s development programme, which will run from 2027 to 2030.

During the consultations, Kamara joined his regional counterparts in calling for funding models that directly address the realities of West African football. Key priorities raised included infrastructure development, improved administrative systems, technical advancement, and stronger governance structures.

The session, led by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, forms part of a broader global strategy aimed at strengthening football development across member associations by the year 2030.

Kamara’s participation is seen as a significant step in elevating Sierra Leone’s voice on the international football stage, with the SLFA seeking to align itself with global standards while ensuring that development initiatives remain relevant to local needs.

The engagement underscores the association’s commitment to leveraging international partnerships and funding opportunities to drive sustainable growth of football at all levels in Sierra Leone.
