Sierra International Academy School contest in Kenema has reportedly ended in chaos, resulting in police intervention and the arrest of a school principal.
Eyewitnesses say the after-school competition, which initially drew excitement among students, quickly turned disorderly as tensions flared. Disgruntled students allegedly engaged in acts of unrest, creating panic within the school environment and surrounding community.
In response, officers of the Sierra Leone Police were dispatched to the scene, where they managed to disperse the agitated crowd and restore calm.
In a surprising turn of events, the school principal was also arrested during the intervention. While details surrounding the arrest remain unclear, sources suggest it may be linked to alleged lapses in supervision, failure to take police clearance, or failure to control the situation as it escalated.
The incident has sparked concern among parents, education stakeholders, and community leaders, many of whom are calling for a thorough investigation into both the conduct of the students and the circumstances that led to the principal’s arrest.
This development highlights the growing need for stronger discipline, effective event management, and closer collaboration between school authorities and law enforcement to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement, but the public is urged to remain calm as investigations continue.
