The Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), led by its President Babadi Kamara, on Tuesday visited the family of the late Joseph Samba Keifala in Freetown to express their condolences following his passing.
According to the SLFA, the visit took place on April 21, 2026, and was intended to sympathise with the bereaved family and recognise the contributions of the former Vice President to football in Sierra Leone.
During the visit, members of the delegation conveyed their sympathy, noting that the death of Mr. Keifala represents not only a personal loss to his family but also a significant moment for the football community in the country.
Those present reflected quietly on his time in service, recalling the role he played within the Association. President Kamara, speaking briefly during the visit, acknowledged Mr. Keifala’s contributions, particularly his tenure as Vice President and Acting President of the SLFA.
He noted that Mr. Keifala carried out his responsibilities with seriousness and remained committed to the development of football during his time in office.
Members of the Executive Committee also observed that while his contributions may not always have attracted public attention, they were meaningful and have left a lasting impact within football circles.
In response, the family of the late Mr. Keifala expressed appreciation to the SLFA for the visit and support during their time of grief. They stated that the gesture meant a great deal to them and demonstrated that his years of service to the game are remembered and valued.
The visit forms part of ongoing tributes to the late former SLFA Vice President, whose role in the administration of football in Sierra Leone has been acknowledged by colleagues and stakeholders within the sport.
