President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Julius Maada Bio, together with Vice President and Deputy Leader of the party, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, joined party supporters and officials in Kenema for the turning of the sod ceremony for the SLPP’s regional office at the Show Field.
The ceremony attracted supporters of the ruling party, government officials, traditional leaders and dignitaries from different parts of the country as the party officially launched the construction of what officials described as a major administrative facility for the Eastern Region.

Vice President Juldeh Jalloh attended the event in support of President Bio, who led the ceremony as Leader of the SLPP. The event marked the formal commencement of construction work on the regional office, which party officials said would strengthen the party’s operations and coordination in the Eastern Province.
Addressing supporters during the ceremony, President Bio said the regional office would not only serve the people of Kenema but the wider Eastern Province.
He described the project as part of ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening the party’s presence and improving coordination among party members and supporters across the region.

The President also appealed to party supporters and well-wishers to contribute toward the successful completion of the project, stressing that every contribution would be important regardless of size.
He encouraged members of the party to take ownership of the project and continue working collectively for the growth and development of the SLPP.

According to the National Chairman of the SLPP, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, the regional office is expected to provide administrative space and support party activities throughout the Eastern Province once completed.
Party officials at the event described the construction of the office as a significant development for the SLPP in the Eastern Region, noting that it would help improve party administration and engagement with supporters across the province.
