The Freetown City Council (FCC) has urged all residents and businesses in Freetown to register with approved waste service providers as part of efforts to improve sanitation and tackle illegal dumping across the city.

In a public statement issued by the Council, the FCC said that under the Solid and Liquid Waste Collection Byelaws, every household and business establishment is required to register with an FCC-approved waste collection service provider.

The Council stressed that the move is aimed at promoting proper waste disposal and maintaining a cleaner environment in the capital city.

“A cleaner Freetown starts with you!” the FCC stated, while calling on residents and businesses to support efforts to transform the city through responsible waste management practices.

The FCC further warned against illegal dumping of garbage and littering in gutters, noting that such practices continue to pose serious environmental and public health challenges in many communities across Freetown.

The Council encouraged the public to work together in support of the city’s sanitation drive under the campaign slogan “#TransformFreetown.”

According to the FCC, residents seeking information on how to register with approved waste service providers in their respective communities can call 8244 or visit [Freetown City Council](https://fcc.gov.sl?utm_source=chatgpt.com) for further details.

The FCC has in recent years intensified efforts to improve waste management and sanitation services in the city as part of broader measures aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier Freetown.
