Sierra Leonean international footballer Augustus Kargbo has commissioned a new orphanage home in the Lumpa Community of Waterloo, marking a significant contribution to child welfare and social support in the country.
The facility, which is now fully operational, is expected to provide sustainable care, essential welfare support, and improved living conditions for vulnerable children from different parts of Sierra Leone.

Kargbo, who also serves as a Benefit Mankind Ambassador for English club Blackburn Rovers, led the commissioning of the facility as part of his ongoing commitment to humanitarian work and youth development.
The orphanage is designed to offer shelter, basic necessities, and a stable environment aimed at improving the wellbeing and future prospects of children in need.

Speaking at the commissioning, stakeholders and community members described the development as a timely intervention that will help address some of the challenges faced by vulnerable children, particularly in accessing care and support services.
The initiative is being viewed as a major step forward in strengthening child protection efforts and promoting social responsibility, especially through the involvement of sports personalities in community development.

With the facility now open, it is expected to serve as a safe haven for children while also providing renewed hope for a better and more secure future.
