The Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU) has continued its nationwide Management and Functional Review, engaging the leadership of Eastern Technical University (ETU) in Kenema.

The exercise, anchored in the Government’s Medium-Term National Development Plan, is designed to take a critical look at how universities operate, examining systems, identifying gaps, and proposing practical reforms to enhance performance and service delivery.

During discussions with the review team, ETU’s Vice Chancellor and Principal, Professor Mohamed T. Lahai, welcomed the initiative, noting that it presents an important opportunity to strengthen institutional capacity and address existing challenges within the sector.

Officials from the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, alongside PSRU representatives, stressed that the review will play a key role in improving governance, promoting accountability, and ensuring universities are aligned with both national priorities and global standards.

The engagement at ETU forms part of a broader government strategy to revitalise the education sector, with similar assessments expected to shape reforms across universities and other learning institutions in Sierra Leone.
