The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), has officially launched the Sierra Leone Health Travel Portal at the Freetown International Airport (FIA), marking a major step in efforts to strengthen public health security and improve the travel experience for both citizens and international visitors.
The newly introduced portal serves as a centralised digital platform through which travellers can conveniently submit the required health information and documentation for both entry into and departure from the country. Authorities say the system is designed to streamline health screening processes and enhance efficiency at points of entry.

Officials noted that the initiative underscores the Government’s commitment to safeguarding public health while ensuring smoother and more seamless travel procedures.
In addition to facilitating documentation, the portal will provide travellers with timely and accurate updates on health protocols, travel advisories, and entry requirements. This is expected to help passengers stay informed before and during their journeys.

The launch of the platform highlights the Government of Sierra Leone’s continued focus on leveraging technology to strengthen health systems, improve border health management, and protect the well-being of residents and visitors in an increasingly interconnected world.
