The Sierra Leone Police Medical Services has provided a consignment of medical supplies to Regional Police Commanders in the South-Eastern Regions as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the welfare and operational readiness of police personnel.
Presenting the supplies, the Deputy Director and Medical Superintendent of the Sierra Leone Police Medical Services, ASP Dr. John M. Konteh, said the initiative reflects the vision of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu, to prioritise the health and well-being of police officers across the country.
Dr. Konteh noted that the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police recognises the importance of maintaining a healthy workforce, adding that officers who are in good health are better positioned to effectively serve and protect the public.
According to him, the distribution of the medical supplies forms part of broader efforts by the police leadership to ensure that personnel have access to essential healthcare support while carrying out their responsibilities.
Receiving the items on behalf of their respective regions, the Eastern Regional Commander, ACP Joe Kamanda Bongay, and the Southern Regional Commander, AIG Andrew Mustapha Kamara, expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police for the support.
The two commanders described the donation as a timely intervention that would enhance the morale, resilience, and effectiveness of officers serving within their commands. They said the medical supplies would contribute significantly to supporting the health needs of personnel and improving their capacity to perform their duties.
The donation highlights the continued commitment of the Sierra Leone Police leadership to promoting the welfare of its personnel, with a focus on ensuring that officers receive the healthcare support necessary to carry out their mandate effectively.
Police authorities maintain that investing in the health and well-being of officers remains a key component of effective policing and improved service delivery to the public.
