The race for leadership within the Sierra Leone Medical Students’ Association (SLEMSA) has continued to gain momentum as a Vice Presidential aspirant has outlined her vision ahead of the upcoming elections.

The candidate, a fifth-year medical student, youth advocate, and entrepreneur, formally declared her intention to contest for the position of Vice President for Members, describing her bid as being anchored on “leadership through service.”

In a statement shared on her Facebook page, she pledged to promote professionalism, strengthen student unity, and enhance resource mobilization within the association, which she said are key to building a more effective and responsive student body.

She highlighted her leadership background across several student and professional platforms, including serving as a Class Ambassador, member of the SLEMSA Magazine Editorial Board, and Secretary General of the Committee of Municipal Journalists (COMMUJ).

Her experience also includes serving as Vice Chairperson of MEDFEST and Communications Assistant for the Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH), roles she noted have equipped her with strong organizational and communication skills.

Outlining her vision for the association, she emphasized the need for a more united and professionally driven SLEMSA, focused on effective member support and stronger internal coordination.

“My vision is simple: a stronger SLEMSA built on professionalism, unity, effective member support, and resource mobilization,” she stated, adding that empowered members remain central to a vibrant and impactful association.

The position of Vice President for Members serves as a key link between the executive and the general membership, a responsibility she said she is prepared to undertake by promoting inclusivity, active listening, and collaborative problem-solving.

She concluded by appealing for the support and trust of members as the association heads toward its internal elections.
