Sahid Kargbo, a student, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 after he was arraigned on charges of conspiracy to defraud, forgery, and uttering a forged document allegedly connected to a West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result.
The accused appeared before the court on three counts, namely conspiracy to defraud contrary to law, forgery contrary to Section 4(1) of the Forgery Act of 1913, and uttering a forged document contrary to Section 6(1) and (2) of the Forgery Act of 1913.
According to the particulars of offence, on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Connaught Campus, in Freetown, the defendant, with intent to defraud, allegedly conspired with other persons unknown to defraud the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, University of Sierra Leone.
The prosecution further alleged that on the same date and at the same location, the defendant, with intent to defraud, forged a document, namely a West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result bearing candidate number 7021003204, purporting it to have been prepared and issued by WAEC.
Count Three states that the defendant, with intent to defraud, uttered the said WAEC result bearing candidate number 7021003204, knowing it to be forged.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken because the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
Prosecutor DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo informed the court that the defendant had been served with copies of the case and inquiry file.
Having heard the submission of the prosecution, Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to 29 June 2026 for further proceedings.
