The Ministry of Health has commenced a Medical Preparedness and Emergency Response Training for healthcare professionals at the New Brookfields Hotel in preparation for the High-Level Meeting of African Heads of State, scheduled for 12th to 19th July 2026 at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre.

The training, led by Deputy Minister of Health I, Prof. Dr. Charles Senesie, alongside Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Dr. Patricia Bah, and Director of Hospital and Ambulance Services, Ibrahim Foday-Musa, brought together doctors, nurses, specialists, consultants, National Emergency Medical Service personnel, and ambulance teams to strengthen emergency response capacity for the summit.

In his remarks, Ibrahim Foday-Musa said the training forms part of the Ministry’s broader preparations to ensure an effective medical response, noting that the Minister of Health had directed the creation of a multidisciplinary response team coordinated by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer to streamline operations before, during, and after the event.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Dr. Charles Senesie praised healthcare workers for their dedication and professionalism, stressing that the success of the summit would depend heavily on the country’s medical preparedness. He urged participants to maintain high standards of discipline, confidentiality, infection prevention, and compassionate care.

The training also featured technical sessions on emergency referral systems, ambulance deployment, infection prevention and control, and overall medical response planning. Deputy Chief Medical Officer–Clinical Services, Dr. med Mustapha S. Kabba, concluded by thanking participants and calling for teamwork, coordination, and operational readiness to deliver world-class medical services throughout the summit.
