The Orange Foundation has donated its 46th Digital School Kit (DSK) to Rural Education Committee Primary School in York Village, further strengthening efforts to expand access to quality digital education across Sierra Leone.
The donation, made on Thursday, 3 July, forms part of the Foundation’s ongoing initiative to equip schools with digital learning resources and create more opportunities for pupils to develop essential technology skills.
The presentation ceremony was led by the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey, alongside the Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Aïcha Touré, and the Orange Foundation Director, Annie Wonnie-Katta. The event also brought together other stakeholders committed to advancing education through digital innovation.
The Digital School Kit programme is designed to bridge the digital divide by providing schools, particularly those in underserved communities, with technology that enhances teaching and learning.
The initiative supports pupils and teachers with digital tools aimed at improving classroom instruction and preparing learners for an increasingly technology-driven world.
The latest donation to Rural Education Committee Primary School reflects the Orange Foundation’s continued investment in education and its partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone to promote digital inclusion and improve learning outcomes.
Through the expansion of the Digital School Kit initiative, the Foundation continues to extend access to digital education, reinforcing its commitment to empowering young people with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the digital age.
Education is one of the priorities of the Julius Maada Bio administration. While education remains free through out primary and secondary schools, many families cannot afford learning materials for their children in the West African country.
