Two drivers, Alie Kamara and Abubakarr Koroma, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 over the alleged theft of a Ministry of Education vehicle.

The accused are facing two counts of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Larceny, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone and Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916, respectively.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Ministry of Education in New England Ville, Western Area, Freetown, Kamara and Koroma allegedly conspired with other persons unknown to steal a white JAC vehicle bearing registration number AWV 063.

The second count alleges that the two defendants, on the same date and at the same location, stole a white JAC J6 4×4 pick-up vehicle valued at Le636,000, property of the Ministry of Education, which was reportedly in the custody of Alie Kamara.

When the charges were read and explained to them in court, both defendants pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting the matter, Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen told the court that copies of the case and inquiry files had been served on the accused. The defendants acknowledged receipt of the documents.

Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences, and ordered that both accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to August 20, 2026, for further proceedings.
