The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) is investigating eight Sierra Leoneans for being in possession of multiple voting cards in Grand Cape Mount County.
It followed their arrest Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Porkpah District, according to the Liberian Broadcasting System.
The Liberian Authorities disclosed that the Sierra Leoneans included seven males, a border guard at the Liberia-Sierra Leone Border and one female.
LIS Director of Communication, Abraham Dorley, told the national broadcaster that the eight arrested persons admitted going through the Biometric Voter Registration process to obtain the cards.
Dorley said the Sierra Leoneans are currently in the custody of the LIS.
The LIS Director of Communication said LIS Commissioner, Col. Robert Budy, is expected to contact the Sierra Leonean Embassy near Monrovia before deriving at a possible charge.
