As the death toll from Monday’s deadly earthquake in Turkey and Syria Passes 20,000 people, charities across the US are doing fundraising to support earthquake victims in both countries.

Lamin Bah, a Sierra Leonean Philantropist, who doubles as Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Global clothing industries (GCI), a company based in Atlanta, has extended support to the Turkish people with the donation of a 40 feet container of clothing and other materials worth thousand of dollars, as his help to these two nations.

Turkey and Syria last week suffered one of the world’s worst earth quake which left thousands of people dead, and many injured and missing.

The prospect of rescuing more people in Turkey and Syria — trapped under the rubble four days after the 7.8 magnitude and the 7.5 magnitude earthquakes — is fading, but on Friday several survivors were pulled from the ruins in Hatay province in Turkey’s south, including a woman and her 6-month-old daughter. Officials say the death toll from the powerful earthquakes that struck the border region between Turkey and Syria on Monday is now more than 24,000, making it the world’s deadliest seismic event since a 2011 earthquake and tsunami that killed nearly 20,000 people in Japan.

Lamin Bah has made a lot of interventions as a form of support to Sierra Leoneans, through the Lamin and Kadie Foundation, providing Micro Finance schemes for Aberdeen Market Women Association, state-of-the-art Academic facility with over 300 children with 100% free education which includes uniform with 24hour Solar light, Computer Lab and a standard library at Pate Nana, Makeni, Bombali District, Northern Sierra Leone, and also provided Medical services/items, food and personal protective materials, when the country was hit by the deadly Ebola and Covid-19 global pandemic.

Lamin Bah stated that the Global Clothing Industry and the LKB Foundation believe in giving back to society, with the aim of creating a better platform for women and Children.

Paul Nelson, GCI, VP, Business Development GCI, offered prayers and condolences to the people of Turkey and Syria, stressing that GCI will continue to provide support in other areas, and called on other organizations and Philanthropists to follow the footstep of CEO Lamin Bah.
